Executive Chef Robert Burnell and his business partner Robert Cohen opened The Berkshire Harvest Restaurant in early June of 2009. The restaurant offers a comfortable atmosphere that showcases local food and beverage products. Partnerships with local farmers, distillers, vintners, bakers, and chocolatiers guarantee the freshest possible ingredients in a seasonally evolving menu.
Mr. Burnell and Mr. Cohen brought with them substantial knowledge and experience in the food and beverage industry. The two met while working front line positions at The Tavern Restaurant on Nantucket Island in the mid 1980's. Over the next two decades Mr. Burnell was instrumental in the opening of several successful restaurants including Sunflower Organic Dining in Boulder, Colorado, under the direction of chef Jon Pell, and The Gold Dredge Restaurant in Breckenridge, CO. Mr. Cohen also spent several years in Breckenridge Colorado, as a restaurant manager for the Adam's Street Grill, and then as Tapas Chef at Cafe Alpine. This was followed by a return to academia where he completed the Graduate program at Cornell's School of Hospitality Management.
After five years working for Marriott International as a Director of Restaurants in Farmington, CT, Mr. Cohen helped to form the Berkshire Hotels Group, which owns and operates seven area lodging facilities and two restaurants. In 2005 Mr. Burnell joined Berkshire Hotels Group as Director of Food and Beverage. He also assumed responsibility for the construction of this restaurant, which originally housed the Bennigan’s Grill and Tavern.
The two Roberts are local Berkshire residents where they are both raising their families. They invite you and your family to come enjoy a wonderful dining experience at The Berkshire Harvest Restaurant.
